Our certifications

Medusa promotes the protection and preservation of the marine environment by adhering to the MSC certification. Marine Stewardship Council is an independent non-profit organisation which promotes sustainable fishing with a view to preserving the marine ecosystem for future generations. MSC certified fishery products must meet 3 main principles: 1. Sustainable fish stocks. Fishing must be at a level that ensures it can continue indefinitely and the fish population can remain productive and healthy. 2. Minimising environmental impact. Fishing activity must be managed carefully so that other species and habitats within the ecosystem remain healthy. 3. Effective fisheries management. MSC certified fisheries must comply with relevant laws and be able to adapt to changing environmental circumstances.
The IFS (International Food Standard) Standard, like the BRC standard, is the result of measures to focus on unified safety for the purposes of quality. Its aim is to identify each manufacturing company according to its capacity to provide safe products that meet legal requirements. This standard also regards food safety, as recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
The requirements set forth by this standard are based on quality management systems, on the HACCP method and the Factory Environmental Standard, as well as a set of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GHP (Good Hygiene Practices) requirements. The adoption of this control system enables the company to implement and operate a management system able to guarantee compliance with the quality, safety and legal constraints specific to its own sector.
The BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Standard for Food Safety was created to meet the demand for a unified quality standard. It guarantees quality standards for the products made by member food processing and preparation companies, with the purpose of safeguarding food safety throughout the business processes. It fully complies with the food safety standards recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
The standards concern the parameters affecting product quality and health & hygiene safety. According to the HACCP method, analysis covers: the adoption of best practices of reference, and of a documented quality management system, plus compliance with the standards regarding the work environment, products, processing and staff. The certification is completed by analysing the specifications concerning raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, along with all the processes involved.
ISO 9001 stands as the internationally recognized standard for business Quality management aimed at internal process optimization to enhance competitiveness and achieve overall quality, in terms of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Therefore, the main objective of ISO 9001 is expressed in full by the constant drive for improving business performance, as regards improving costs, productivity, and resource optimization.
The pursuit of such goals enables certified companies to provide their clientele with enhanced quality guarantee for the products they offer.
